Environmental Policy

AlloyGator Limited knows that it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods. We will encourage customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to do the same.

We recognise our responsibility to minimise the potential for causing harm to the environment and strive to sustain and improve the environment through the careful consideration of design, selection of materials and operational procedures. Where practicable, we will ensure that our contractors and suppliers also comply.

Responsibility

Stephanie Rathbone, Group Operations Director, is responsible for ensuring that this environmental policy is implemented, however, all employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of this policy are met.

Policy aims
We endeavour to:

  1. Comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  2. Continually improve and monitor environmental performance.
  3. Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts.
  4. Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions.
  5. Increase employee awareness and training.

Paper
We will:

  1. Minimise the use of paper in the office.
  2. Reduce packaging as much as possible.
  3. Seek to buy recycled and recyclable paper products.
  4. Reuse and recycle all paper where possible.
  5. Energy and water

We will seek to:

  1. Reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible.
  2. Switch off lights and electrical equipment when not in use. Use LED lighting throughout our facility(s).
  3. Adjust heating with energy consumption in mind. Use roller shutter doors for heat efficiency.
  4. Take energy consumption and efficiency of new products into account when purchasing them.

Production
We will:

  1. Minimise packaging waste by considering design implications.
  2. Recycle rejected products into useable components.
  3. Take a considered approach to packing, and despatch in bulk where possible.
  4. Reuse wooden pallets and other packaging products.
  5. Recycle all recyclable waste using carefully selected partners.

Office supplies
We will:

  1. Evaluate if the need can be met in another way.
  2. Evaluate if renting or sharing is an option before purchasing equipment.
  3. Evaluate the environmental impact of any new products we intend to purchase.
  4. Favour more environmentally friendly and efficient products wherever possible.
  5. Reuse and recycle everything we are able to.

Transportation
We will:

  1. Reduce the need to travel, restricting to necessity trips only.
  2. Promote the use of travel alternatives such as e-mail or video/phone conferencing.
  3. Make additional efforts to accommodate the needs of those using public transport or bicycles.
  4. Favour ‘green’ vehicles and maintain them rigorously to ensure ongoing efficiency.
  5. Maintenance and cleaning

We will:

  1. Use cleaning materials that are as environmentally friendly as possible.
  2. Use materials in any office refurbishment that are as environmentally friendly as possible.
  3. Only use licensed and appropriate organisations to dispose of waste.
  4. Monitoring and improvement

We will:

  1. Comply with all relevant regulatory requirements.
  2. Continually improve and monitor environmental performance.
  3. Continually improve and reduce environmental impacts.
  4. Incorporate environmental factors into business decisions.
  5. Increase employee awareness through training.
  6. Review this policy and any related business issues at weekly management meetings.

Culture
We will:

  1. Update this policy at least once annually in consultation with staff and other stakeholders where necessary.
  2. Involve staff in the implementation of this policy, for greater commitment and improved performance.
  3. Provide staff with relevant environmental training.
  4. Work with suppliers, contractors and subcontractors to improve their environmental performance.
  5. Use local labour and materials where available to reduce CO2 and help the community.
